After the jail of a Togolese a few weeks ago for defiling a little girl in Akyem Odumasi, it is the turn of another Togolese national to be sentenced to 20 years of hard labor for the same offense.
Mawuena Ahava, a 25-year-old mason, made an 11-year-old student in Adenta pregnant.
At Adentan Circuit Court, he pleaded guilty to the defilement charge.
The court, chaired by Ms. Sedinam Awo Balokah, found Ahava guilty of his plea and sentenced him accordingly.
According to the judicial authorities, the Togolese worked with the plaintiff (father of the victim), also a mason, and often stayed in his house.
On October 27, the complainant was called to the victim’s school where he learned that his daughter was pregnant.
The girl is said to have eventually revealed that Ahava was responsible for the pregnancy and that he had unprotected sex with her whenever her father was away.
The accused also warned the victim not to tell anyone.
However, the 25-year-old was apprehended by police before being later transferred to Adenta court.
Last month Michael Banu, a Togolese resistant in Ghana, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for defiling an 11-year-old girl.
