Another batch of Covid-19 vaccines, a donation from The United States of America through COVAX program has landed in Accra today, December 8, 2021.
Over one million Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine doses have been handed over by the U.S. Ambassador Stephanie Sullivan.
The United States brings its donation of Covid-19 vaccines to Ghana to 5.3 million.
Ghana officially received this delivery in the presence of representatives of UNICEF, the Government of Denmark and the Ghanaian Ministry of Health at Accra Kotoka International Airport.
“Now is the time for Ghanaians to get their jabs. The vaccines, donated on behalf of the American people, are here. These doses are the same safe and effective vaccines used in the United States. We can beat this pandemic together, but it starts with each eligible person getting their jab,” said U.S. Ambassador Sullivan.
As a reminder, President Joe Biden has pledged to donate 1.2 billion doses worldwide and the US government has already shared more than 300 million doses, including 90 million in sub-Saharan Africa.
