Cameroon won its second African Cup of Nations victory on Thursday against Ethiopia (4-1) thanks in particular to doubles goals from Vincent Aboubakar and Karl Toko-Ekambi. The host country is at the top of its group and has already qualified for the round of 16.


The law of nature has been respected: the Indomitable Lions have eaten the Antelopes. Despite a first half where they were pushed around, Cameroon largely beat Ethiopia.

Cameroon will be at the rendezvous of the round of 16. Thanks to a second victory in two matches in this group A.

The host country of the 33rd edition of AFCON is the first to qualify for the rest of the competition.

Antonio Conceiçao’s players were able to react following two braces signed by Karl Toko-Ekambi at the 8th and 67th minute. Vincent Aboubakar (53rd, 55th).

Dawa Hotessa quickly opened the scoring in the 4th minute. A goal that was equalized in less than 4 minutes.

It was following a strike from Aboubakar pushed back by the Ethiopian goalkeeper. Fai Collins subsequently sends a perfect cross on the head of Lyonnais Karl Toko-Ekambi who converted it into a goal.

Ethiopia therefore becomes the last of group A with zero points, after two games.
