Amidst a controversy because of his decisions at the end of the match, Wednesday, the referee of Mali-Tunisia has allegedly been taken to hospital for examinations due to a sunstroke.
Janny Sikazwe has reportedly been taken to the hospital at the end of the match. And this is the reason why his assistant, the 4th referee, had been asked to resume the match during additional time.
According to Essam Abdel-Fatah, the boss of the referees, the sun be at cause of the Zambian’s failure.
Abdel-Fatah explained to journalists that Sikazwea suffered sunstroke, which could make him lose his concentration.
The sunstroke was severe enough that the 42 year-old man was taken to hospital for tests.

Experienced referee but with shortcomings
Sikazwe is an experienced referee. He is taking part in his sixth African Cup of Nations. Also present in Russia in 2018, where he had been on the whistle for the two group matches Belgium-Panama and Japan-Poland.
Janny Sikazwe nevertheless has a few pans. He had indeed been accused of corruption by the Angolan club Primeiro de Agosto after an African Champions League match against Esperance of Tunis before being cleared.
His decisions during Algeria-Burkina Faso in 2013 also caused a lot of talk.
