No winner between Ghana and Gabon (1-1) for the 2nd day of Group C in the ongoing AFCON 2021. The Black stars therefore become third in the group with a very slight chance to continue their stay in Yaoundé.

The Black Stars raced in the lead for seventy minutes after a superb goal from André Ayew but were caught at the very end of the match on a strike from Clermontois Jim Allevinah.

Defeated against Morocco (1-0), on Monday, the formation of Milovan Rajevac once again cracked in the last minutes of their meeting against Gabon this Friday.

The Black Stars still got a point (1-1), but will left the field very frustrated after leading the score for seventy minutes.

Ghana must therefore win their next and last game in Group C with more than one goal and hope that Gabon does not score a goal against Morocco.

A single goal against Morocco will be enough for Gabon to bring Ghana squad back to Accra before the end of AFCON 2021.

A first half led by Ghana

The Ghanaians had a very good first half rewarded by André Ayew at the 19th minute. The former Olympique de Marseille striker opened his counter in the competition. It was thanks to a superb sequence of control-oriented dry strikes at the entrance to the Gabonese surface to launch his team.

This goal was ultimately not enough. The fault of a general relaxation at the end of the match which allowed a very discreet Gabon to afford a last opportunity.

Earlier in the day, Morocco for their part consolidated their leading position in this group C. They validated their qualification for the round of 16 thanks to a victory against the Comoros (2-0).

For the last day of the group stages, Gabon will face Morocco, while Ghana will challenge Comoros to hope to obtain a ticket for the rest of the competition. Both matches will take place on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
