Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, the Burkinabé soldier, who led the putsch against former President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré on January 24, finally made his first speech on national television on the evening of Thursday January 27, 2022.
In his twelve-minute speech, the president of the Patriotic Movement for the Safeguarding and Restoration of Burkina Faso (MPSR) touched on several points. He also indicated that his country will “need its partners more than ever” in this time of crisis.
“Friends of Burkina-Faso in these particularly difficult times for our country, Burkina-Faso needs its partners more than ever. This is why I call on the international community to support our country so that it can emerge from this crisis as quickly as possible to resume its march towards development,” said Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba.
And the strong man of Burkina Faso added: “I can understand the legitimate doubts raised by this break in the normal functioning of the State but I would like to reassure all the friends of Burkina Faso that the country will continue to respect its international commitments, in particular with regard to respect for human rights.”
