South Africa have claimed their first Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) , after a final against Morocco this Saturday, July 23, 2022.

The Bayana Bayana won Morocco, host country of this 14th edition of the competition, WAFCON 2022 with a score of (1-2).

The first half, however, ended without a goal. But the South Africans took the lead after a goal from Hildah Magaia in the 68th minute.



Desiree Ellis’s ladies doubled the score four minutes later thanks to a second goal from Magaia.

It was in the 70th minute of the game that the Moroccans were able to withdraw a goal. But the score remained 1-2.

South Africa thus becomes the third country to win this cup after Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria which won it three.
