Created on March 1, 1973, the Association of Sports Journalists of Togo (AJST) celebrates its 50th anniversary this Wednesday.
This year’s celebration falls under the theme: The sports press at the service of peace and social cohesion.
This anniversary comes just a few days after the election of the Secretary General of the Togolese Association, Dr Kodjo Avuletey within the executive committee of AIPS Africa (International Sports Press Association) created in 1924 and currently headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The AJST was founded in 1973 by elders Benoît Messan Gnamey and Doevi Tsibiaku. 20 years later, AJST joined the international network which brings together national associations of sports journalists.
“We are honored to continue the fight with the next generation. Will, Abnegation, Inspiration coupled with the spirit of unity and fusion of energies, it is at this price alone that the AJST can last over time. Many activities are planned for 2023, we will all be happy, dear sporting public, to have you behind and with us… No Sports without Journalists, and no sports promotion without the sports public, ”says colleague Angélo Follykoe.
