The U20 teams of Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire have qualified for the final of the 2nd edition of the WAFU-B Nations Cup, after having beaten Togo and Benin respectively in the semi-finals on Monday, July 17, 2023.
Despite the resistance of the Sparrowhawks, Burkina Faso were able to find the breach necessary to score at the right time.
Nevertheless, the young Sparrowhawks were on track to reach overtime during this meeting. With a very solid low block, the Togolese players spent most of the time defending in their camp.
As they struggled to clear the ball from their penalty area, Abdoul Ouattara took possession. With a powerful shot close to the post, he deceived the vigilance of the Togolese goalkeeper in the 85th minute. This is how Burkina Faso scored their only goal, thus eliminating Togo from the tournament.

This fourth consecutive victory for the young Stallions propelled them to the final. They will face Ivory Coast, who won on penalties, the second match of the day against Benin 2(2-3)2. The grand finale will take place on Thursday July 20, 2023.
