The governing body of football, FIFA, has unveiled a new FIFA ranking following a total of 159 international matches played in the month of September.
Initially, the last African team to exit the Qatar 2022 World Cup held the 14th spot in the world rankings as of the previous July. Today, Morocco has climbed to the 13th position, accumulating 1658.32 points, securing them the top spot in Africa.
In the African continent, Morocco maintains its lead in the FIFA world rankings at 13th place, followed by Senegal (20th), Tunisia (29th), Algeria (34th), Egypt (35th), Nigeria (40th), Cameroon (41st), Mali (49th), Côte d’Ivoire (50th), Burkina Faso (58th), and Ghana (60th).
In terms of international performances, Argentina (1st) solidified its top spot in the FIFA/Coca-Cola world rankings with victories over Ecuador (1-0) and Bolivia (0-3) in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers.
France (2nd) slipped after a friendly defeat to Germany (2-1) but still holds onto second place. Brazil (3rd), England (4th), and Belgium (5th) maintain their positions in the top 5, which has remained unchanged since the July 2023 FIFA ranking.
This ranking reflects the outcomes of 159 international matches played in September. The next FIFA/Coca-Cola world ranking will be published on October 26.
