AFCON 2023’s Decisive Matches of the Day



The stage is set for the third and final day of the group stage in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023). Four thrilling matches are poised to captivate fans today, headlined by an intense face-off between Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea at Ebimpé Olympic Stadium.

In Group A, every team is still vying for a coveted spot in the Round of 16. Equatorial Guinea (4 points), leading the group, faces off against Ivory Coast, currently in third place with 3 points, at 5:00 PM GMT at Ebimpé Stadium.

Concurrently, at Félix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, Nigeria, holding the second spot with 4 points, squares off against Guinea-Bissau, anchored at the bottom with 0 points.

Group B is also set for decisive showdowns. The Ghanaian Black Stars, currently in third place with 1 point, collide with Mozambique, also at the bottom with the same points. The match kicks off at Ebimpé at 8:00 PM GMT.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Pharaohs, in second place with two points, take on Cape Verde’s Blue Sharks, who have already secured a place in the next round with an impressive 6 points from two victories. The match is slated at Felicia Stadium at 8:00 PM GMT.

The Egyptian Football Association has confirmed that Mohamed Salah is set to return to Liverpool from the Africa Cup of Nations for treatment on his muscle injury. Salah encountered the injury in the first half of his nation’s group-stage match against Ghana last Thursday. An update has been provided, indicating that he is anticipated to be sidelined for the next two matches should Egypt advance to the knockout stages of the tournament in Ivory Coast.
