Togo’s national police announced on Friday October 8, 2021 the arrest of sixteen suspected Nigerian cybercriminals and the seizure of their computer equipment.

The Police say they catched the suspects as part of their security mission on October 05.

“Following reports of the presence of a group of suspicious individuals in an apartment in Bè-Kpota in Lomé, a police raid was carried out there,” police said in a statement sighted by AfrikPage.

“This operation not only made it possible to arrest sixteen suspected cybercriminals, two of whom were female, but also to seize computer equipment and various other objects including laptops, smartphones, Sim Moov, Togocom and MTN cards, which are used for monetary transfer, ”she added.

While calling on the population to be more vigilant to avoid falling victim to these cybercriminals, the Police indicate that “investigations are continuing to dismantle the networks with which they are in contact”.
