As part of its strategic stakeholder engagements, Ghana Police Service held on Thursday, a meeting with news editors, media managers and partners at the National Police Headquarters in Accra.


The meeting chaired by the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, was to discuss on ways to improve “the symbiotic relationship that exists between the media and the Police in order to promote a more peaceful, safe and law-abiding society”.

Therefore, the key deliberations of the meeting focused on the relationship between the media and the police and how this can be improved for an effective partnership in fighting crime and educating the public on safety.

The topics discussed are among others, the Police performance in maintaining public order; Centralization of police communication and information transfer as well as access to information on security in general and Police snapshot duties.

In his remarks, IGP Dr Dampare called on media professionals to use their powerful platforms to partner with the police in maintaining public order and to collectively tackle issues affecting the security of the country.
