During the ordinary session of the Economic Community of West African States, in Abuja on Sunday, the President of the Republic of Ghana , Nana Akufo-Addo and his counterparts of ECOWAS adopted the organization’s “Vision 2050 ”.

This agenda, drawn up “taking into account the deep aspirations of West African citizens”, revolves around five fundamental pillars: Peace, Security and Stability, Governance and Rule of Law, Economic Integration and Interconnectivity, Transformation and Inclusive and Sustainable Development, and Social inclusion.

The objective, indicated the leaders of the sub-region, is to promote the emergence of “a community of peoples fully integrated in a peaceful region, prosperous with strong institutions and respectful of fundamental freedoms, working for inclusive and sustainable development ”by 2050.

Guidance was given in this direction to the Organizing Committee, in order to “expedite the preparation of the operational documents” necessary for its implementation.

Other questions, related to socio-political, economic and health news in the community were discussed.
