The chairperson of board of Ghana Airports Company Limited, Paul Adom Otchere has replied on Friday, to allegations according to which, 84, 000 Ghana cedis was spent on Christmas trees for the decorations of Kotoka International Airport, meanwhile its workers were paid late.

In a statement published on social media this Friday, January 7, 2022, Mr Adom Otchere said the total expenditure for this decorations in the last year (2021), is the lowest since 2016.

“The beautiful Christmas tree standing at Terminal 3 and 3 others altogether cost GHC 34,000, which was graciously provided by Jandel Limited at a heavy discount”, he stated.

According to him, the other inspirations were provided by Favors and Arts for a total cost of GHC 84,000 out of which GHC 50,000 was obtained via sponsorship.

The Ghanaian broadcast journalist in his response to his critics also indicated that all salaries and / or bonuses owed to staff for December have been paid. ” We will like to urge the general public to disregard these unfounded allegations.” He added.

However, his response was not welcomed by the majority of Internet users, who incidentally suggest that the same materials should be used for 2022 Christmas, in order to avoid unnecessary spending of state money.
