After the rejection of his candidacy in 2020, the former Captain of the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire, Didier Drogba resubmits on Sunday April 10, 2022, his candidacy for the presidential election of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF).
The former Chelsea striker has been supported by several ex-teammates, including Baky Koné, Marc Zoro, Yaya Touré and Copa Barry.

For this election scheduled for April 23, Drogba is now waiting for Friday April 15, when the electoral commission will publish the list of eligible candidates.
“My candidacy is that of unity. I want to stay in the momentum of the development of Ivorian football instilled by the Head of State 10 years ago. The delivery of Ivorian football is for April 23. If on the evening of April 23 I am elected president of the FIF, I will reach out to the two other candidates to work together. I am for the victory of the rebirth of Ivorian football”, said the legend of African football after filing his documents.
The dream remains the same for the star, who had seen in August 2020 the electoral commission of the Federation reject his previous candidacy for breaches of the eligibility conditions.
The stalemate in the electoral process then prompted FIFA to place the body under a standardization committee. A situation that has persisted ever since.
