Yaou Mensah Agbenou , popularly known by his nickname Poet Ishmael won the Male Poet Of The Year award given last week by Wordplay Awards in Ghana.

Known for his controversial pieces, Poet Ishmael of Togolese origin became known in Ghana since 2017 through many poetic works recorded in several languages.

Among them are “Beyond Aid” (In English, French, Ewe, Twi and German) and “Dromo” another slam by the polyglot writer recommended by the award-winning fashion designer Grunberry to illustrate his artistic work “Dromo”.

Mensah Agbenou who is also a journalist, being on mission during this period of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, could not participate in the award ceremony. However, he reacted on social media following the announcement of the results.
