Notting Hill Carnival, one of the world’s largest street festivals, once again brought London’s diverse communities together in a beautiful display of unity and celebration. The carnival, which began as a response to racial tensions, traces its roots back to 1959 when Trinidadian activist Claudia Jones organized a Caribbean event at St Pancras Town Hall in London.

Togolese artist Kaporal Wisdom launches poetry contest against terrorism

The multi-award-winning Togolese artist Kaporal Wisdom is organizing a Slam contest called the Patriotic Slam Championship with the theme, A SLAM AGAINST VIOLENT EXTREMISM AND TERRORISM. The aim of this competition which brings together several poets and artists from the west African country, is to make them “Messengers” in the fight against terrorism in Togo.
