Matrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) asks the Cameroonian authorities and their partners to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of eight (8) spectators and many injuries at the Olembe stadium on Monday.

“We want the report by Friday,” said Patrice Motsepe.

The Boss of CAF made his statements during a press conference held in Yaoundé this Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

According to the president, the circumstances of the incident which are still unknown, will be subject to discussion between him, the government and the organizing committee tomorrow.

Motsepe also assures that “CAF will be in contact with the families” of those affected.

At least eight people were indeed reported dead on Monday, after the match between Cameroon and Comoros at Olembe stadium.

As a result, matches scheduled at the Olembe stadium that has experienced the unfortunate incident will be moved to other stadiums which will be communicated.
